Hays Education -
INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION PROCESS
Arriving in a new country can be daunting. In recognition of this, our international division offers coordinated recruitment services between Australia and your destination. We are experts in international teaching markets and can guide you through the whole process of gaining successful international employment, from advising on your CV, to roles available in each location, the contract, lifestyle and culture of each location and the interview process.
Preparation is the key to a successful overseas working experience. If you research the country and local area, customs and culture and go with an open and positive attitude, the experience can provide new friends, wonderful memories and valuable experience. Hays assists in this preparation through the provision of country, school, lifestyle and cultural information. Everything you experience in your current life may change. For example, the food you eat, clothes you wear, friends you make and cultural activities will be different to your experiences at home.
In order to ensure that only qualified teachers are sent to our international schools, we require teachers to register with us, which is a free service. The process is simple and ensures all checks are in place prior to sending your details to a school.
Firstly, email us your current resume. Your resume should include dates of employment, names and locations of schools, bullet-pointed outlines of ages of children and subject areas taught (remember to include all ESL teaching experience which is helpful for overseas schools), special projects worked on, responsibilities at each school and extra curricular information.
To register, you will need to provide:
- A completed Hays Education registration form.
- Qualifications.
- Identity.
- Police clearance certificates.
- Names and contact details of two professional referees.
You will need to interview with a Hays Education consultant and provide us with some personal information. This is optional, but is required to satisfy work permit applications, to abide by local laws and customs and to ensure that adequate housing is allocated to singles and families. This information includes date of birth, nationality of all family members, ages and sex of dependant children and marital status (it is illegal for a man and woman to live together in the Middle East if they are not legally married). A passport sized photograph is also required as some headmasters will not interview without one. This photograph is not used to see what you look like - rather it allows the headmaster to interview you over the telephone with a degree of empathy.
