The Audit Office of New South Wales
Challenging work that makes a difference
Working for the Audit Office (AO) you will experience variety, challenge and real opportunities for personal satisfaction and professional development. You will work in a collaborative environment with colleagues who, like you, are committed to professional excellence.
You will have the opportunity to add value to the effectiveness of services that we all use every day, such as the rail network, the health system and our road networks. Through our professional and technical leadership we have real impact on real issues.
We go 'behind the numbers' to look at issues of value-for-money, integrity and accountability. We monitor developments in areas as diverse as governance, Commonwealth/State financial relations, environmental reporting and industry and social policy.
You will see inside organisations of every type and size. Some will be high profile like EnergyAustralia, Sydney Water, The Department of Health and universities. Others will be smaller but just as interesting, like the NSW Film and Television Office, Historic Houses Trust, Sydney Opera House and Taronga Park Zoo.

Flexible Work Practices
The AO supports an environment where employees can balance their careers with outside interests whilst ensuring the Office's resourcing and service delivery needs are met.
The AO has an innovative flexible working hours system that allows staff to work agreed hours within a bandwidth from 6.00am to 10.00pm. Under this system staff may take up to 24 days flex leave per year. Other flexible work practices that may be approved include a compressed working week, part-year employment, job-share and occasional working from home.
Study Support
The Office requires its financial audit staff to have professional recognition through the Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA Australia.
Other studies that provide a benefit to both the AO and the individual are supported by study leave and up to 75% reimbursement of fees.
